Types, dimensions, application and price of plaque stones

Types of plaque stones

This type of building stone itself is divided into the following types:

  Travertine

Travertine is the most suitable option for the exterior and even the interior. Due to having suitable pores, it is considered as a light weight stone and easily sticks to the wall. In addition to the wall, it is also used as a carpet and is resistant to water, cold, heat and ultraviolet rays. Travertine has many color variations. This type of stone is used abundantly in the Roman facade.

Granite

  Marble

Another plaque stone is marble. This stone is mostly used for interior, floor and stairs. It is denser and has fewer pores than travertine. The type of marble that is used in the interior or exterior environment is different from each other. For the standard use of marble for various purposes, special attention should be paid to the thickness, type of stone, surface finish and other characteristics of this stone.

 Dimensions of plaque stone

Its difference in appearance with other types of building stones is one of the distinctive features of plaque stone. Plaque stone is cut in different dimensions and with regular thicknesses. Then its surface will be polished with sub-gloss. Cutting of building stones is done using advanced tools with high precision. In addition to plaques, stones are also processed into tiles and slabs. Tile pieces are produced in square or rectangular dimensions, such as 40×40 or 40 long, and slabs are produced in larger sizes.  After cutting the stones, their surfaces should be processed in different ways. One of these forms is the polished method, in which the surface of the stone is polished and shiny. Keep in mind that stone grinding depends on various factors such as the porosity of the stone texture. In this way, the higher the amount of pores in the stone, the less sandable it is. In these cases, materials such as epoxy resin or mastic should be used to make the stone shiny and fill the porosity.

Among other cases, we can mention the finishing of the surface of building stones, leather film, Hond (to create a matte surface) and Bush Hammer (soft and embossed). In some construction stones, a net is used behind the stone in order to increase the adhesion to the materials (especially in facade stones).

The thickness of building plaque stone

The diameter of plaque stone depends on its application. For example, the thickness of floor stone is usually between 18 and 20 mm, and in facade stones, this value reaches 16 mm. This is despite the fact that the stepping stones are thicker and the thickness of the stepping stone reaches 30 mm.

  Applications of plaque stone

This stone is used in the following cases:  Building facades  stepping stone  cornice  plinth  Kitchen counter  Wash basin  Wall Plugs  Floor Covering  Paving the streets  Ornamental and decorative use  Note: Marble is more expensive than granite and travertine.

The price of building plaque stone

The price of plaque depends on various factors. Each of the types of stones have their own characteristics and are different from each other in terms of quality. Among the important and influential factors in the price of building stones are the following:  Slab stone dimensions: Slab stone has a higher price than tile stone  Plaque stone thickness: The thicker the plaque stone is, the higher its price will be  The color and design of plaque stone: the absence of impurities, streaks and fossils in the texture of the stone will lead to an increase in the price of plaque stone.  The quality of processing and the amount of subs and materials used  Plaque stone type: marble stone, granite stone, travertine stone, marble, porcelain stone and other stones have different prices.  Analysis of plaque stone: If two plaque stones are of the same type but extracted from two different mines, they are very different.
