Iran is the paradise for geologists. This sentence was said by international geologists, after visiting Iran and observing its’ natural beauty and geological phenomena. Iran is due to being in the Alpine, Himalayan orogenic belt and collision zone of the Eurasian, Gondwana supercontinents, has a complex and interesting geological history.
Iran is a country, rich in minerals of building stones. Namely, 44% of marble, 25% of porcelain, 20% of granite, 10% of travertine and 2% of onyx is the largest share of Iranian stone diversity in the provinces of Isfahan, Kermanshah, Mahallat, Qom, Zanjan, Qazvin, Hamadan and Azerbaijan.
To introduce Iran stone capacities more, it’s worthy to mention some facts. Iran has the first rank in the world from color diversity aspect in stone market, Iran marble is ranked first, travertine is third, and onyx is ranked seventh in the world. Of course, Iran’s stone has not yet reached its right place in the world market dramatically.
