Stone plaques

Stone plaques

Plaque is a term for different types of stone that have characteristics such as polished surface, beautiful appearance and high resistance to environmental conditions. This stone is mainly used in building construction and is used for exterior and interior decorative details. Plaque stone is actually a decorative stone that is not suitable for heavy applications!

 What is plaque stone?

The use of plaque stone has been very common in the past. But the expansion of its use goes back to 50 years ago, when the first machine factory for stone plaque production was built by Astan Quds Razavi in Mashhad in 1317. The first stage of the production of this type of stone is related to extraction from the mountain (quarry). Natural stones are polished in the factory and then subjected to special conditions to achieve the desired characteristics of plaque stone. After that, the stones are cut in different sizes and thicknesses for various applications and ready for sale.

 Benefits of plaque stone

Plaque stone as a green material was also used in construction hundreds of years ago. Today, this stone has many benefits for building a sustainable house using green products as follows:

  1- Suitable for external view

If you are building, you can choose flagstone for facade use. Whether your facade style is traditional or contemporary, there is a type of stone plaque that will suit your needs well. Both in terms of price and labor, this stone is suitable for the facade of the building.

  2- High quality and durability

Plaque stone is durable and fireproof. While some buildings fall into ruins, the stone facade will stand for centuries. You can easily restore the stone facade and replace it with another material. In addition, natural stone requires minimal maintenance.

3- thermal mass and insulation

Natural stone is environmentally friendly because it provides thermal mass and natural insulation, which helps greatly with energy costs. A large thermal mass in the insulated part of a house can control daily temperature fluctuations. When the temperature of the environment is higher than the mass, the thermal mass absorbs heat energy and when the environment inside is cold, it gives back the heat energy.

4- Increasing the value of the property

Whether you are looking to resell your home or want to renovate any part of your home, you should know that using stone in any part of your home or building will add value to your property. Many builders think that natural stone is more expensive than any other material, but most people forget the features and values of slate!

Characteristics of plaque stone

The standard and specifications of plaque stone are as follows:

1- beauty

The facade of the building has a special effect on attracting people’s attention and selling the property. Therefore, choosing a beautiful stone is very important for this. Plaque stone has many variations and can be ordered in different patterns and colors. But most of the designs have a beautiful and catchy appearance that can keep the hands of any manufacturer open to choose the desired model.

2- Resistant to weather conditions

The exterior of the building is exposed to different weather conditions and direct sunlight. Plaque stone, which is mainly used in the facade of the building, has special physical properties that make the facade withstand different weather conditions. Long life and high durability are among the important features of this type of building stone.

3- High adhesion

Plaque stone has an acceptable adhesion to mortar and cement mortar. The back of this stone has many voids, which makes it adhere well to the mortar. It is very easy to cut and work with this type of building stone.

4- Low density and weight

The weight of the stone in the facade is very important. The use of porous stones such as plaque reduces the weight and makes the facade lighter. Granite has the lowest porosity and the highest density among plaque stones, and for this reason, it is not recommended to use it on the facade. But travertine is the best stone for the facade due to its high porosity.

5- Easy to clean and maintain

  •   The exterior of the building will be affected by pollution. For this reason, cleaning the facade is very important. Stones that do not have a shiny surface attract dirt. In recent years, the processing done on plaque stones has made its surface shiny and free of any pores, which in turn helps to increase its resistance.
