News of geophysical discoveries
As we know, exploratory geophysics includes five main electrical methods –magnetometry, radiometry, gravimetry and seismography, each of these methods is used independently or together with other methods to explore mineral deposits and oil and gas basins. In recent years, manufacturing companies Geophysical equipments have always tried to build transmitter devices that have the ability to transmit stronger and controlled waves to the ground and receivers that have the ability to record the data returned from the earth more realistically, and geophysical experts in the three departments of improving the technology of the devices, optimizing the measurement methods Air and ground, as well as perfecting the relevant software, are trying to make the location, shape and dimensions of the discovered anomalies more realistic. Here are some new and useful items:
- Measurement method 24-Titan: This method is one of the latest electrical methods in which the parameters of resistance (RS), charging ability (IP) and magnetotelluric resistance (MT) are measured in the layers of the earth and can be studied up to a depth of 1.5 km. and measuring the location and therefore it is very effective for the exploration of deep and hidden underground mines, IP values up to a depth of 750 meters and MT values up to a depth of 1.5 km can be measured in this method, the measurements are on a line or network and at the same time It is done in 24 stations and by combining the above data, the degree of confidence of the resulting anomalies increases. This technique is one of the methods that has received much attention in exploration projects in the last few years.
- E-scan Surveys method: This method is also one of the new electrical methods, which is a type of resistance and IP measurement. Its measuring depth is up to 600 meters and the permeability of the current sent in the ground is higher than the usual methods. In this method, about a hundred electrodes or more are placed on a grid of one square kilometer or more and the primary current is connected to one electrode and the resistance is read in all electrodes, each electrode gradually acts as the primary current electrode and thus A huge amount of data is collected. The data is displayed using a computer in the form of 3D cells, and finally the volumetric resistance of the area is displayed in 3D. This method is useful in exploring epithermal gold deposits, geothermal areas, kimberlite pipes, etc.
- New magnetometer devices record the data of the magnetic field in the memory and after making the relevant corrections, by connecting it to the plotter, they draw the data meter map. As we know, magnetometric methods have many applications in the exploration of all kinds of deposits and can be used in detecting iron-rich areas, alteration areas, hidden intrusive masses, identifying faults and geological contacts in depth and many other cases.
- 4.A new method has been used in the analysis of IP and EM data to better distinguish anomalies and value them, which is called 3D EM-IP Modeling and Imaging System. In this method, by combining the above data and making a 3D model, anomalies are recorded more realistically.
- Seismic methods are usually used for the exploration of oil and gas sources, but recently such methods are also used for the exploration of metal deposits located at depths of more than 500 meters. By using the 3D-Seismic Reflection method, mineral deposits can be identified up to a depth of 3 km, and deposits of masiosulfide, Sedex, IOCG (copper and iron oxide gold deposits) types have been discovered with this method. If the waves are not well reflected from the ground layers, they record the waves by digging a well and placing a seismometer in the depth of the well (Borehole Seismic).
- The method of simultaneous measurement of the components of the earth’s magnetic and electric fields, which are known as magnetotelluric waves, is progressing. In this method, the changes of the electric and magnetic fields are measured at different frequencies, and the electrical conductivity of the earth’s layers using the ratio between the components It is determined electrically and magnetically (MT Apparent Resistivity). This method is used for exploration in different depths according to the frequency range of the waves. A type of this method that has been widely used in the exploration of mineral deposits in recent years is called Controlled Source Audio Magnetotelluric (CSAMT), which sends an electric current to the ground in a certain frequency range.
